It might also be the one I've been writing for the longest time. Every since I met the amazing Martina Trepczyk, these words started taking shape in my head. Fast forward many beautiful months, and Martina asks me to come up with a voice-over and concept for the portrait of her work as a filmmaker, with a deadline of about 90 minutes. The portrait was supposed to be celebrating her work as director, cinematographer, feminist, artist, and above all human to become the ambassador for the world's most amazing camera brand—Leica’s—new model SL3-S. Well, fortunately, I had already started writing it in my head over a year ago. What then conspired was a beautifully chaotic and sometimes quite challenging "production" (with our dog Anton bombarding us with nuclear-threat-level-farts at 02.00 am while I'm panning the light to create light effects ...) that led to the most fitting celebration of the work that Martina puts all her soul, passion, nights, days and sometimes tears into. Needless to say that I am forever in awe of her talent, dedication and genius. And that I'm grateful to have played a minor part in the production of this video, which is major in every aspect. For almost 60 years, she has fearlessly sacrificed her body, her mind, and even her partnerships for the sake of her life’s work. Not surprisingly, her name has gone beyond the confines of the sacred halls of museums. If you say ‘Marina Abramović’, people will have some idea of who you’re talking about. But what Marina really did want to achieve all her life, was to let her work do the talking.&nbsp; So when the Kunsthaus in Zürich decided to dedicate one of Marina Abramović’ biggest retrsopectives to date to the Serbian-born artist, we wanted to now let the work really do the talking. And as the Kunsthaus Zürich had been all over the news recently because of stolen artworks, we decided to flip the script – and invite everyone to become and art thief by themselves. Under the moniker ‘Steal Marina’s Artwork’, we launched careful instructions on how to recreate three of the artist’s pieces and launched them on Social, Print and Out of Home. Including her monumental work ‘The Artist Is Present’. To finally let Marina’s work transcend from the confines of the museums’ halls as well. And to turn the campaign itself into a piece of collective performance art – that will be part of the retrospective. There’s not one single story that unites all of Germany. Germany is made up of a unified plurality where opposites coincide. “Das Augenblickhafte des Entflammens eröffnet den Spielraum des Erscheinens gegen den Bezirk des Verschwindens.”, writes Martin Heidegger in his lectures on Heraclitus, and translates the Greek philosophers‘ fragment DK 22 B 64 like this: „Das Seiende im Ganzen aber steuert der Blitz.“ (GA 55, 162) A sudden lightning lets the essent come into being. But just as haphazardly, every single essent can disappear again. Our campaign lets oft-forgotten stories come back into being: Not by shining a light on them, but by letting their very own light come back into being – through lighting up artful projections all over Germany. How could a city like Vienna that stands for real enjoyment stand out from the crowd? We used the ongoing confusion about the metaverse to highlight a critically underrepresented topic: Mental health. If the metaverse was to be our future, what would existing as an avatar do to our psyche? So we brought a Viennese icon back: Sigmund Freud. We placed him in Decentraland, where he offered a talking cure for confused users and sent the most confused on a trip to Vienna. A simple move that resulted in global news coverage: 300 press articles worldwide reached more than 375 million people. While the digital Sigmund racked up more than 50 hours of user interaction, more than 500.000 people visited the campaign website for a trip to Vienna. Proofing that Vienna is just the city to take a break and have a think. Even in the midst of a global tourism crisis. We knew it was time to rethink our standard way of thinking. For Burger King, we proposed a simple but revolutionary change – and made plant based the standard option. If you wanted meat, you had to ask for it. Questioning our behavior. Looking towards a more sustainable future. And thus of course promoting Burger King’s plant based range. Which resulted in Burger King increasing its sales of plant based burgers by more than 270 % . Borders were closed. Nationalism was on the rise. European cities were empty. With the Vienna Tourist Board, we took a bold stand against that. We started an initiative designed to bring back the European idea: United Cities of Tourism. The first tourism campaign by a city. For other cities.&nbsp; For every 100th tourist in Vienna,&nbsp; we sent a Viennese on a trip to become a tourist in another European city.&nbsp; Little did we expect, that our initiative would become a European movement: As the tourist boards from Milan, Barcelona, London, Berlin and Paris joined United Cities of Tourism. Nowadays, increasingly, algorithms. Vienna, a city that is home to some of the world’s most iconic artworks by Schiele, Klimt, Moser and many more, experienced that while trying to show those very artworks in their social media networks. Algorithms labeled them as “pornographic”. The result? Deleted posts and blocked accounts. We wanted to protest against that. So we published the “explicit” art on OnlyFans. A platform that allows 18+ content. Starting a global discussion on who is allowed to censor art. More than 2,500 articles were published. Reaching more than 760 million people.&nbsp; The campaign was ranked the #5 creative campaign of the year by WARC and #1 tourism campaign in 2022 by TheDrum.
